Welcome to the most disruptive time in human history – The Fourth Industrial Revolution that fundamentally alters the way we live, work, trade, invest, and will resets economic models and how we relate to one another. 

The biggest structural change in the past 250 years is upon us. In its scale, scope, and complexity, the transformation will be unlike anything humankind has experienced before. It is disrupting every industry and economy in every country.

Stages of Industrial Revolution
The 1st industrial revolution where brought about by water and steam. The 2nd was about electricity and mass production. The 3rd harnessed electronics and information technology to automate production.
The 4th industrial revolution brings the fusion of digital-, physical- and virtual world. It is the colliding of emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, blockchain, robotics, IoT,  neurotechnology, nanotechnology, bioinformatic, advanced material, robotics, quantum computing, and 3D printing to mention a few.
 
Origin of the 4th Industrial Revolution

The 4th industrial revolution was triggered by the Germany´s national strategy in 2009 called the “Digital Agenda”. Henrik von Scheel was one of the mastermind behind the Germany’s digital agenda, which evolved into the 4th Industrial Revolution and ignited a global wave of themes on digital Industry 4.0.

The tectonic plates on the future trade and competitiveness are shifting
When compared with previous industrial revolutions, the fourth is evolving at an exponential rather than a linear pace. In a world that is disrupted faster than ever, the question is not whether you will join in, but how. Governments have to invest in the fourth industrial revolution to define the future of prosperity, competitiveness and trade.

The different waves of the Growth and Productivity
The 1st wave of the Industry 4.0 (2009 – 2016) focused on Digitalization, Internet of Things,  Robotics, Advance Analytics and Cloud Computing. 

The 2nd wave Industry 4.0 (2016 – 2025) is focusing on Artificial Intelligence, Blockchain (asset based), Smart Automation, 6G Communication (1 Terabyte upload/download) and new Energy sources. 

The 3rd wave (2025 – …) will focus on Quantum Computing, Cybersecurity, Neuro-technology, Nano-technology and Bio-informatics.
